JOB SUMMARY:  Manage the consumer lending function which includes the Consumer Loan Specialists and Consumer Loan Officers. Develop and implement new consumer loan products, controls, procedures, services and relationships. Ensure the smooth operational flow of consumer loans from start to finish. Analyze and approve consumer loans individually and as a member of the Loan Committee.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Must have 4-year college degree or comparable experience, with MBA preferred. Must have extensive knowledge of consumer lending and processing in a financial institution environment. Must have a minimum of 4 years of supervisory experience with excellent oral and written communication skills. This position requires a person that is flexible, receptive to a dynamic environment, change, and able to function under stress while maintaining a positive attitude.

RESPONSIBILITIES and DUTIES:

  1. Participate on the senior management team as representative for Consumer Lending.
  • Attend Board meetings.
  • Attend and participate in Senior Management meetings.
  1. Continuing education.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of Spirit of Alaska Federal Credit Union loan policies, programs, and procedures.
  • Keep up-to-date and review compliance issues regarding all loan programs.
  • Develop and maintain the policies and procedures for all current consumer loan products as well as for new consumer loan products.
  1. Supervise the Consumer Lending department to include Loan Officers and Loan Specialists.
  • Monitor and schedule the workflow to ensure loans are closed on schedule.
  • Ensure all staff receive adequate training.
  • Assist staff with any problems or concerns.
  • Review staff performance in a timely manner.
  1. Develop, implement and maintain appropriate processes, automation and controls.
  2. Develop and implement new consumer loan products.
  • Assist the Marketing Director in implementing and planning consumer promotions and new products.
  1. Community involvement.
  • Develop and maintain relationships throughout the community relative to consumer loans.
  • Develop and implement working relationships with vendors of all types of consumer products.
  1. Function as a Consumer Loan Officer.
  • Approve consumer loans in accordance with SOAFCU loan policy and established limit.
  • Act on loans as member of the Internal Consumer Loan Committee.
  1. Assist the Vice President of Mortgage Lending with promoting real estate loans within the community.
  2. Market for the department.
  • Interact effectively with all staff, members, realtors, appraisers, etc.
  • Attend marketing functions as required.
  1. Other duties as assigned.
