Transition to Digital Service with Local Support

Starting August 18, we’ll begin remodeling Geist into a fully digital branch, continuing service through our ATMs with local Video Tellers. You’ll still be able to speak with a local teller on screen during service hours and complete most transactions with ease. Our video tellers are familiar faces working from our Johansen branch. They are our local staff who have previously worked in one of our branches or call center.
This change allows us to provide consistent, reliable service in the Geist area, while adapting to how more members are choosing to bank. It also helps us use resources wisely—especially as staffing challenges continue across the region.
The current ATM will remain available 24/7 throughout most of the remodel. Video Teller support at the ATM is currently available Monday–Friday, 10 AM to 5 PM (hours may adjust as we move forward).
If you prefer in-person banking, our Johansen Branch is just down the road (6–7 minutes away), with a friendly team ready to help.
The Spirit of Alaska Geist branch remains an important part of how we serve members in Fairbanks, and we’re committed to continuing that service, just with a new approach.
